Schools out forever

This morning I took my new Christmas present camera (a Nikon D3200) for it’s first outing, looking for a derelict school based on old army barracks nearby to my family home in Deepcut. On the way there, I walked past a very beautiful church called St Barbara’s, apparently Colin Firth and Samuel L Jackson filmed their new movie there a couple of months ago. Thankfully no sign of movie stars today, or anyone at all in fact, so I had the church all to myself.

After a walk through some rather bleak looking army barracks, I finally managed to find the school which seemed to be some sort of haven for most the cats of the neighbourhood. There wasn’t much opportunity for interesting shots, it was mostly boarded up bleak, brick buildings and broken safety glass.

I also revisited another school in the area that I found nearly 2 years ago to the day and rescued a teddy bear that was also there on that first visit (now named Mr Cheswicks). Today I found him wedged in the fireplace so I thought he deserved a new home with me, although he is currently sitting in the porch as my mum won’t let his 2 year old mouldy, germ infested body into the house. He even has moss growing out his nose!
