A trip down Windmill Lane

A rather disappointing re-visit of a childhood memory this weekend… I went to Windmill Lane where we used to go for walks and bike rides. I remember it being a lot more magical and exciting than it actually is, the highlight from my re-visit was finding (another) derelict house (that used to be the local crack den according to local paper reports and almost being bitten by a Canada goose!

Although I rose at dawn, the light was so dull that the photos didn’t come out very well at all. I know I used to visit here as a child but don’t have any particular memories of the place other than the thundering of planes overhead (it is slap bang in the middle of a flight path), the smell of the conifers, the sound of gunshots from the nearby army ranges and always wondering how many dead bodies were buried in the woods! Onto the photos…
