Bring Your Own Beamer night at Brighton Digital Festival
Myself and a few friends visited the Bring Your Own Beamer night at the Brighton Dome. It was one of the events that was part of the Brighton Digital Festival which happened throughout September 2012. The idea is that you bring your own laptop with your film on and plug it into their projectors so it can be projected onto the big stage in the Dome.
There were also a variety of other little rooms with video/film/digital media artists showing their work. I especially enjoyed the scanning machine (not quite sure exactly how it worked) but you sat in the chair and it scanned your face whilst projecting it onto a screen in front of you. There was also quite a nice projection mapping installation on the main stage that consisted of large cubes built in a pyramid with 3D film projected onto it. I personally would have preferred to see/hear original visuals and audio rather than a mash up of known stuff, but that’s probably just me being picky, it was nice to see it in the flesh and so close up.
